Aurora

Aurora is actually a PTC script but due to its popularity, it became sort of a way to classify PTCs. An Aurora site is a PTC which offers lower earnings compared to its “bux” counterpart with generally no-referral limit and a fixed low cashout. There are various ways ways to earn on an Aurora site apart from just clicking on link ads. Some of them are listed below.

  • Paid To Read (PTR) ads: Read a short text/description and then view the ad.
  • Paid To Sign-up (PTSU): Sign-up and fulfill the requirements to get paid.
  • Paid To Promote (PTP): Promote your referral link and earn money.
  • Traffic Exchange (TE): Surf other peoples ads, earn credits and advertise with these credits.

Most Aurora sites are sustainable and do not scam since many members lose interest due to the lower earnings.

Banner

A Banner ad is a graphical web advertising unit and can be static or animated. When the viewer clicks on the banner, the viewer is directed to the website advertised in the banner.
Banner ads are typically 468 pixels wide and 60 pixels tall (generally written as 468×60). They can be of various sizes but the most common ones in the PTC world are 120×600 (Skyscraper), 728×90 (Leaderboard), 125×125 and 88×31 (Micro bar or Button)

Beta Phase

Pre-launch (also known as Beta phase) is the period before the site is officially launched. During this period generally there are no ads to click but some sites do have them in order to attract new members. The main aim of a pre-lauch/beta phase is to identify the bugs, security loop holes and any other type of errors in the script so that the site runs smoothly after its official launch.
In most cases, if advertisements are available to click during the pre-launch phase then your accumulated balance is reset to zero on Official launch day. However, you will have to confirm this by visitng the forum of that particular site.

Click fraud

Click fraud is a type of Internet crime that occurs when one clicks an ad forcibly or purposely without having any interest in the advertised link. It is basically cheating the advertiser since the adveriser has to pay for irrelevant clicks.
Click fraud can be as simple as one person starting a small Web site, becoming a publisher of ads, and clicking on those ads to generate revenue.
Many PTC sites like Ayuwage and TrekPay ask you to perform Click Fraud by clicking ads on sponsored websites. It is illegal and and as mentioned earlier – a crime.

Click-through rate (CTR)

Click-through rate or CTR is a way of measuring the success of an online advertising campaign. A CTR is obtained by dividing the “number of users who clicked on an ad” on a web page by the “number of times the ad was delivered” (impressions). For example, if a banner ad was delivered 100 times (impressions delivered) and 1 person clicked on it (clicks recorded), then the resulting CTR would be 1%.
Click-through rate is generally used to determine the success of a Banner advertisement. In most cases, a 2% click-through rate would be considered pretty successful although 0.2-0.3 % are common.

Geo-targeting

Geo-targeting (or Demographic filtering) means having the ability to target a marketing or advertising campaign at a limited set of visitors based on their physical location.
Some advertising programs that support geo-targeting allow you to control where your ads are displayed based on parameters like country, state, city, or even within X miles of a postal address.

HYIP

A high-yield investment program (HYIP) is a type of Ponzi scheme, which is an investment scam that promises unsustainably high return on investment by paying previous investors with the money invested by new investors.
Operators generally set up a website offering an “investment program” which promises extraordinary returns which are too good to be true, disclosing little or no detail about the underlying management, location, or other aspects of how money is to be invested.

Referral Structure/Tier

This is the system which determines down to which referral level you will earn a percentage. For example, 2 level referral means that you will earn a percentage for both your own referrals and the referrals found by your own referrals.
Similarly, 3-level referral structure means you will earn from your personally sponsored referrals, the referrals found by them (level 2) and and referrals found by them too (Level 3).
